The touch pad
The touch pad is on top of the meter. It works with or without the app.
| Gesture | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tap | Next level: Free → Away → Focus → On a call → In a meeting → Presenting → Do not disturb → back to Free |
| Hold (rest a finger about half a second) | Free |
| Double-tap | Flash: all six stars flash red and blue |
Tips:
- Tap quickly. A finger that rests on the pad for about half a second counts as a hold, which jumps to Free.
- Holding longer does nothing more. It can't reset or wipe the meter.
- From Flash, the next tap goes to Free.
- You can tap several times in a row to step up quickly.
With the app running #
A tap, hold or double-tap counts as a level you picked by hand (a manual level). The app follows it, shows MANUAL in its panel, and keeps it for as long as your Manual hold setting says (see Levels and looks). A tap also ends a pause.
A level set on the meter some other way while the app runs (from your phone, the WLED app or Home Assistant) counts the same: the app keeps that level as a manual level.
Over Wi-Fi the app notices a tap straight away. Over USB it can take up to about 2 seconds for the app's panel to catch up; the meter itself changes at once.
Without the app #
The meter handles taps on its own, using the look you last saved. That's useful for a meter by a door on a USB charger while your PC is off.
A meter powered from your PC's USB port goes dark when the PC sleeps or shuts down, so there's nothing to tap then.
